Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 23, 2026

This policy is provided by Damian Mason, operating as Sapient Technologies (United States). Displaying Art ("the app") is a slideshow viewer for art, including artwork hosted on DeviantArt, Bluesky, RSS/Atom feeds, and your own collection. This page explains what data the app handles and why.

What the app does not do

The app contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers, and it never sells your data. It only sends data to another party when you explicitly tap Share, and only the artwork's title and link are included — never your account, device, or usage data. Signing in with DeviantArt is optional and isn't required to use the app's free sources.

A separate, also-optional Displaying Art account exists for people who buy Pro and want their unlock and settings to follow them across devices. Creating one does involve storing a small amount of data on our servers — the next two sections explain exactly what and why.

What's stored on your device

This lives only on your own device, in your browser's local storage — nothing described below is sent to us or to any server we control:

All of this persists until you clear your browser's site data (or uninstall the app, for the packaged store versions).

What's stored on our servers

Only if you buy Pro or create a Displaying Art account. If you don't, nothing in this section applies to you.

None of this is sold, used for advertising, or shared beyond what this page describes. You can ask us to delete your account or purchase record at any time — see Contact, below.

What passes through our server

Because DeviantArt's API doesn't allow direct browser access, the app routes two kinds of requests through a small serverless relay we operate: the OAuth token exchange, and read-only artwork requests (browsing tags, galleries, Daily Deviations, etc.). The same relay also fetches RSS/Atom feeds and a public Google Fonts catalog on the app's behalf, for the same reason — a browser can't read a cross-origin response that lacks the right headers. None of this traffic is logged or inspected beyond what's needed to serve the request. If you buy Pro or create an account, purchase verification and sign-in emails also pass through our server — see "What's stored on our servers," above, for what each involves. Our hosting provider, Netlify, may separately retain standard infrastructure-level logs (e.g., timestamps, response codes, source IP addresses) for a limited period, as described in Netlify's privacy policy.

Third parties

When you sign in with DeviantArt, you're redirected to DeviantArt's own login page and authenticate directly with them under their privacy policy. Buying Pro is handled by Stripe under their privacy policy — we never see your payment details, only what's listed above. Sign-in emails for Displaying Art accounts are sent through Resend, which sees only the email address and message needed to deliver that one email. If you use the app's share feature, it hands off to whichever service you pick (e.g. your device's share sheet, or a social network's own share page) — we don't see or log what you share.

Permissions

The app may ask to use your device's clipboard (to copy a link) or share sheet (to hand a link to another app) — both only when you tap a share button, and both are standard browser features rather than app permissions. The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, or location access.

Children's privacy

This app is not intended for children and is not designed for anyone under 13. It also includes an optional toggle that can surface mature-rated artwork; enabling it requires that mature content already be permitted on the DeviantArt account you sign in with, per DeviantArt's own age and content policies. Do not enable this setting if you are a minor or are supervising a minor's use of this app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change too. Material changes will be reflected in the app's store listing.
