What is Displaying Art?

Displaying Art is a free web app that turns any screen into a rotating art gallery. It shows artwork full-screen on a dark, museum-style wall, with a label that credits the artist and links to the original. It works with DeviantArt, Bluesky, RSS and Atom feeds, and your own images, on phones, computers and TVs.

How does Displaying Art work?

You choose a source, such as DeviantArt's Daily Deviations, a tag, a Bluesky account, an RSS feed or a folder of your own images, and Displaying Art plays it as a slideshow. Each piece fills the screen with a museum-style label showing its title and artist, plus a link and a scannable QR code for its original page. You can pause, skip and shuffle with a tap, a keyboard or a TV remote. Displaying Art doesn't host or copy the artwork; it shows each piece from where it was published.

What sources does it support?

Can I use it with DeviantArt?

Yes. Without signing in, you can show DeviantArt's Daily Deviations, curated picks and art from any tag. Signing in with your DeviantArt account is optional and lets you show your own favourites and the artists you watch. Showing a specific artist's full gallery, gallery folders or collections is part of Displaying Art Pro. Displaying Art is an independent app, not made by or affiliated with DeviantArt.

Can I display art on a TV?

Yes. Open Displaying Art on a TV, or on a computer or streaming device connected to one, and use your remote to get around: the whole app works with a TV remote's navigation buttons. When you sign in on a TV, it shows a QR code and you finish signing in on your phone, so you never type a password with a remote. An app for Android TV and Google TV, including Nvidia Shield, is in testing on Google Play. With Pro, ambient display adds an on-screen clock, a slow gallery-style crossfade, and a schedule that fades the screen to black overnight.

Does it support RSS, Bluesky, or other social feeds?

Yes. Add any RSS or Atom feed that includes images, such as ArtStation, Mastodon, Tumblr, a blog or a portfolio site, and Displaying Art pulls the images out of each post. For Bluesky, enter an account's handle to show that account's image posts. Searching Bluesky by hashtag isn't supported, because Bluesky only allows search for signed-in sessions.

Is Displaying Art free?

Yes. The slideshow is free, with no ads and no account required, and every source above works for free except a specific artist's DeviantArt galleries. Displaying Art Pro is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription, that adds features such as playlists, custom label styles, ambient display and sync across devices.

Does it collect personal data?

Displaying Art has no analytics, no ads, no third-party trackers, and it never sells your data. If you use it without an account, nothing about you is stored on its servers: your settings stay in your browser on your device. If you buy Pro or create an optional Displaying Art account, it stores only what those features need, such as your email address, your license key and, if you use sync, your settings, playlists and favourites. The privacy policy has the full details.

Does it work offline?

Partly. After your first visit, Displaying Art itself can open without an internet connection. Art from DeviantArt, Bluesky and RSS feeds loads live, so those sources need a connection. A folder of your own images works without one, in Chromium-based browsers that support folder access — Chrome and Edge on a computer, and Chrome on Android.

How do playlists and Pro features work?

Playlists let you save several sources, for example a DeviantArt tag, a Bluesky account and an RSS feed, and mix them into one slideshow. Playlists are part of Displaying Art Pro, a one-time purchase that also adds custom label fonts and styles, a specific artist's full DeviantArt galleries and collections, more than one local folder, ambient display (gallery mode, an on-screen clock and a sleep schedule), and sync of your settings, playlists and favourites across devices. Pro comes with a license key that activates it on any of your devices. Learn more about Pro.

Do I need an account?

No. Displaying Art works without any account. Signing in with DeviantArt is optional and only needed to show your own DeviantArt favourites and the artists you watch. A Displaying Art account is also optional: it lets your Pro unlock restore automatically on a new device when you sign in with the email you purchased it with.

What devices does it work on?

Displaying Art runs in any modern web browser on phones, tablets, computers and TVs, and you can add it to your home screen to use it like an app. Showing a folder of your own images needs a Chromium-based browser that supports folder access — Chrome or Edge on a computer, or Chrome on Android. App store versions for mobile and TV are in development.

Can I hide mature or AI-generated art?

Yes. Mature content is hidden by default using the DeviantArt feed. A separate setting hides pieces DeviantArt flags as AI-generated; it relies on artists labelling their work, so it may not catch everything. Bluesky posters label their own mature posts, and RSS feeds carry no content ratings, so for those user added sources the feeds and accounts you choose are the filter.

Who owns the art?

The artists do. Displaying Art doesn't host any artwork: it shows each piece from where it was published, always credits the artist, and links back to the original page so viewers can find, follow and support the artist.
